Yurika Kimura was born in Hokkaido,Japan on 26 March 1993 and began learning
piano at the age of four with Yoko Miyazawa and Noriyuki Miyazawa.
She was a pupil of Reiko Kikuchi, Katsunori Ishii and Hironao Suzukiat the Tokyo College of Music (graduated in 2015). She is currently studying with Markus Groh at the University of the Arts in Berlin.
She received a scholarships from the Yamaha Music Foundation(2012-2014), and Agency for Cultural Affairs in Japan(2017-2018).
Yurika has won many prizes, including First Prize and F.Liszt special prize at the 4th ASEAN International Concerto Competition in Jakarta(2011),Silver medal in the Professional Category at the 13th Chopin International Piano Competition in ASIA(2011). Finalist of the 36th PTNA Piano Competitionin Tokyo(2012). She took part in the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw(2015). She won First Prize at the 8th Rosario Marciano International Piano Competition in Vienna(2016).Fifth Prize atthe 6th Svetislav stančić international piano competition in Zagreb.
She has performed on many recitals and concerts in Japan, as well as in
France, Russia, Canada, Spain, Poland, and recently in Germany and Austria.
In 2012 she played the chamber music with the Warsaw String Quartet in
Tokyo. In 2014 She performed at the Seoul International Music Festival
Fringe Concert(South Korea). Major concerto performances include with the
Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.
